레드 포트 The Red Fort 올드델리의 중심
붉은 사암으로 만들어진 이곳은 타지마할을 지은 무굴 제국의 황제 샤 자한 왕이 건설한 요새이다. 힌디로 붉은 성벽을 뜻하는 ‘랄 낄라(Lal Qila’로도 통용된다. 1938~1948년 사이에 세워졌으나 샤 자한 왕이 아들 아우랑제브에게 페위를 당하고 아우랑제브에게 폐위를 통지하던 시기 무굴 제국은 내란으로 점차 흔들리기 시작했고, 19세기 델리를 침략한 영국은 이곳을 군용 막사와 사무실로 사용하기도 했다. 대부분의 건물들이 완공 이후 제대로 관리되지 않았고, 대리석 상감을 비롯한 내부 장식들은 모두 약탈을 당했다, 그럼에도 불구하고 넓은 터에 남아 잇는 웅장한 건물들과 한겨울에도 항상 푸르른 정원은 한때 번성했던 무굴 제국을 떠올리기에 충분하다. 해마다 독립기념일 (8월15일)에는 총리의 대국민 연설이 이곳에서 열린다.

The Red Fort The heart of Old Delhi
Made of red sandstone, it is a fortress built by King Shah Jahan, emperor of the Mughal Empire who built the Taj Mahal. It is also commonly used as'Lal Qila', which means red wall in Hindi. It was built between 1938 and 1948, but when King Shah Jahan was ruled by his son Aurangzeb and notified Aurangzeb of the demotion, the Mughal Empire The civil war began to shake, and the British invading Delhi in the 19th century used it as a military barracks and offices, most of the buildings were poorly maintained after completion, and all interior decorations, including marble inlays, were looted. Nevertheless, the magnificent buildings that remain on the large grounds and the gardens that are always green even in the middle of winter are enough to recall the once prosperous Mughal Empire.

찬드니 촉 Chandni Chowk 활기찬 재래시장
찬드니 촉 대로 (Chandni Chowk Rd.)를 중심으로 좁고 구불구불한 길이 뻗어 나가는 이곳은 올드델리의 심장이다. 길 위에는 작은 상점들이 빼곡하게 들어서 있어서 항상 사람들로 북적이고 혼란스럽다. 찬드니 촉의 동쪽 끝 레드 포트 주변에는 16세기 자이나교 사원인 디감바라 사원 (Digambara Jain Temple)과 시바 신에게 헌정된 힌두 사원 고리 샨카르 사원 (Gori Shankar Temple)이 자리하고 있다. 사원을 지나 서쪽으로 이동하면 유명한 스윗 판매점인 젤라비 왈라 (Jalebi Wala)가 있고, Dariba Kalan Rd.를 따라 펼쳐지는 은과 금, 액세서리를 판매하는 재래시장이 있다. 우측으로 이어지는 키나리 바자르 (Kinari Bazaar)는 주로 웨딩용품을 판매하는데, 중간에 스베탐바라 사원 (Svetambara Jain Temple)이 숨어 있다. 이어지는 빠라타 골목을 지나 찬드니 촉 대로로 돌아오면 18세기에 지어진 수네흐리 마스지드 (Sunheri Masjid)와 시크교 사원인 시스간즈 구르드와라 (Sisganj Gurdwara)를 볼 수 있다. 언제나 붐비는 곳이니 소지품을 잘 챙겨야 한다.
Chandni Chowk Lively traditional market
With a narrow, winding road extending around Chandni Chowk Rd., this is the heart of Old Delhi. There are many small shops on the street, so it is always crowded and confused with people. Around the Red Fort at the eastern end of Chandni Chok are Digambara Jain Temple, a 16th-century Jain temple, and Gori Shankar Temple, a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Shiva. Head west past the temple to the famous sweet shop Jalebi Wala and a traditional market selling silver, gold and accessories along Dariba Kalan Rd. The Kinari Bazaar, which runs to the right, mainly sells wedding supplies, with Svetambara Jain Temple hidden in the middle. Passing through the Paratha Alley and returning to Chandni Chok Boulevard, you can see the 18th-century Sunheri Masjid and the Sikh temple Sisganj Gurdwara. It's always crowded, so be sure to pack your belongings.
라즈가트 Raj Ghat 간디의 화장터
레드 포트 남쪽에 잇는 검은 대리석 연단은 1948년 암살을 당한 마하트마 간디의 화장이 진행된 지점이다. 국경일 및 간디가 사망한 날에는 이 지역이 폐쇄되기도 한다. 근처에 있는 국립 간디 박물관 (National Gandhi Museum)에는 간디의 소지품과 사진 자료들이 전시되어 있다.

The crematorium of Raj Ghat Gandhi
The black marble podium on the south side of Red Fort is where Mahatma Gandhi, who was assassinated in 1948, was cremated. On national holidays and on the day of Gandhi's death, the area is sometimes closed. The nearby National Gandhi Museum displays Gandhi's belongings and photographs.
